EXPERIENCE
I am an occupational therapist who has been working in mental health settings since 2025. I started my career at Bophelong Psychiatric Hospital, where I worked with both adult and adolescent patients during my community service year. This experience helped me develop flexibility and creativity in providing meaningful care within limited resources, and it continues to motivate me to grow and gain further experience here at Optima.
EDUCATION & PROFFESIONAL DEVELOPMENT
I hold a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from the University of Stellenbosch. My additional training includes an Online Diploma in Mental Health Studies with a focus on suicide, violent behaviour, and substance abuse; Dementia Care and Management; supporting Children with Autism in a School Environment; and training in conducting Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs) for mental health conditions.
APPROACH TO THERAPY
I use the Person–Environment–Occupation–Performance (PEOP) model to better understand how different aspects of a person’s life affect their ability to function day to day. I value group therapy as a supportive space where people can learn from one another and work together to find practical ways to create more balanced and regulated lives. I strongly believe that healing works best through collaboration and a client-centred approach.
PERSONAL INTERESTS
I enjoy spending time with friends and family and hosting fun, themed gatherings. I share a love for rugby with my father, and most Saturdays are spent either watching a game at home or at DHL Stadium. I’m passionate about continuing to grow my knowledge in mental health and striving to be the best therapist I can be for my clients.
