Hi, I’m Deoné van der Merwe, an Educational Psychologist.

 

I completed my master’s degree in Educational Psychology at the University of Pretoria and completed my internship at the Centre for Student Counselling and Development at Stellenbosch University. My experience includes working with school-aged learners through to young adults navigating academic and developmental transitions.

 

My work is grounded in collaboration and holistic development - considering the physical, emotional, social, and psychological aspects of each individual. I enjoy working systemically and value involving families, schools, and support networks to create environments where clients can thrive.

 

I have a special interest in career construction, using a narrative-informed approach that helps individuals understand how their career paths form part of their broader life stories. I am also deeply committed to supporting neurodiverse learners in academic settings, helping them access their strengths and navigate their environments with confidence.

 

I approach my work with curiosity, compassion, and a strong belief in every individual’s capacity for growth. Creating supportive, inclusive spaces where people feel understood and empowered is at the heart of my practice.
